Progress in growth, fabrication, and characterization of semiconductor photonic crystal nanocavities

Abstract: Phone: þ01 520 621 9606, Fax: þ01 520 621 4358We present the results of recent investigations into the fabrication and characterization of high-Q, small mode volume one-dimensional photonic crystal nanobeam cavities in Si and two-dimensional photonic crystal slab nanocavities in GaAs. The nanobeam cavity modes are investigated in transmission by means of a microfiber taper loop apparatus. The spectral transmission profile of the cavity modes is investigated as a function of input polarization into the fiber. T… Show more

“…The tunable photonic crystals have drawn much attention in recent years. Many researchers have presented a variety of tunable photonic crystals such as LC photonic crystal, semiconductor photonic crystal and superconducting photonic crystal etc [4][5][6]. Using these tunable photonic crystals can be designed to many new devices, for instance, tunable filter, photonic crystal sensor, photonic crystal resonator, photonic crystal optical switch and so on [7][8][9][10][11].…”
