Abstract:The electromagnetic calorimeter of the ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will be of the accordion liquid argon (LAr) type. To a c hieve su cient energy resolution it is necessary to correct for the energy loss upstream of the calorimeter. For this purpose a separate presampler detector, providing a shower sampling in a thin LAr layer (11 mm in depth) before the calorimeter, was developed by the ATLAS collaboration and tested at CERN in September 95. The combined response of this detector… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
