Project to renew the undulators at the photon factory

Abstract: Abstract. At the 2.5-GeV Photon Factory (PF) storage ring, we recently constructed four new undulators known as U#02-2, U#13, SGU#15, and U#28 for BL02, BL13, BL15, and BL28, respectively. SGU#15 is an in-vacuum undulator with a period length of 17.6 mm. The other three undulators are elliptically polarizing undulators (EPUs) for the vacuum ultraviolet and soft X-ray (VUV-SX) light sources to obtain various polarization states. We constructed these new undulators by fiscal 2013 and step by step installed them … Show more

“…Furthermore, 'inclined' linear polarization is available as reported in the previous paper (Tanaka & Kitamura, 2011a), as well as the HPR and VPR. Note that the structure of the mechanical frame becomes more complicated to realize the above scheme, because all of the six arrays should be shifted along the longitudinal axis independently; it is worth mentioning, however, that such an ID to allow for the phase motion of six arrays has been constructed before (Tsuchiya et al, 2016).…”

“…In February 2015, this insertion device was replaced by an APPLE-II (advanced planar polarized light emitter II) type elliptically polarizing undulator (EPU), U#13. The period length and the periodicity number of the APPLE-II EPU are 7.6 cm and 47, respectively (Tsuchiya, 2015;Tsuchiya et al, 2016). The undulator enables linear polarized radiation (horizontal and vertical), circular polarized radiation (left and right), and elliptical polarized radiation (left and right) to be generated.…”
