Prolonged Paralysis and Apnea After Receiving a Neuromuscular Blocking Agent: What Nurses Should Know

Abstract: After receiving mivacurium, a short-acting neuromuscular blocking agent used for intubation before surgery, a patient experienced prolonged paralysis and prolonged apnea that required ventilator support.
