Promoting Agile Supply Chain Management for Exporting Mangos From Tamil Nadu

Abstract

Tamil Nadu's mangoes are highly sought after in international markets, contributing to the country's agricultural export revenues. . These mangoes are primarily exported to countries in the Middle East, Europe, and Southeast Asia, where demand for exotic fruits like mangoes continues to rise. The increasing global demand for Indian mangoes presents a unique opportunity for Tamil Nadu to expand its market presence through improved supply chain practices. However, challenges such as inadequate cold storage facilities, poor transportation infrastructure, and the perishable nature of mangoes make it difficult for the industry to meet international standards. Agile Supply Chain Management (SCM) principles can play a transformative role in the mango export supply chain, emphasizing flexibility, collaboration, and responsiveness to change. This manuscript aims to explore how Agile SCM can be effectively applied to the export of mangoes from Tamil Nadu, addressing both opportunities and challenges in implementing Agile practices in the mango export sector.
