Abstract:The pharmacodynamics effects of therapeutically administered calcitonin is observed for extended duration much beyond its reported short half-life. The rationale for this pharmacodynamic-pharmacokinetics mismatch of calcitonin is not known. Hence in this study the hypothesis on sub-compartmentalization of calcitonin in blood to explain the extended pharmacodynamics effects of calcitonin was evaluated in vitro using the sheep blood model. A relatively higher proportion of calcitonin concentration was observed i… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
