“…armigera uses multiple defense strategies while feeding upon various host plant material. The digestive proteases and their flexibility in expression play a prime role in contributing a major support for its survival, adaptability and polyphagous nature (Padul et al, 2012;Macedo et al, 2015;Zhu-Salzman and Zeng, 2015;War et al, 2018;Jamal et al, 2019). At any given time, alkaline trypsin-like serine proteases are the major constituents of midgut, inspite of changes in digestive protease profile with developmental stage and type of diet it consumes.…”

“…It is essential to consider PIs in non-host plants because host PIs are evolutionary dynamic and codependent on other resistance mechanisms and interaction of other pests; also, insects might have coevolved and adapted instantaneously ( Harsulkar AM et al, 1999 : Qu L-J et al, 2003 ). Farrukh et al ( Jamal F et al, 2019 ) study showed the efficacy of PIs extracted from different parts of different plants against pest's gut protease enzymes by slowing down the metabolism of essential nutrients for pest life. Thus, considering the usage of PIs as one of the most potent and effective methods to eradicate many environmental and economically harmful threatening insects.…”
