Abstract: Transmembrane mucin-type glycoproteins can regulate signal transduction pathways. In yeast, signaling mucins regulate mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathways that induce cell differentiation to filamentous growth (fMAPK pathway) and the response to osmotic stress (HOG pathway).
