Pseudo‐Crown Ether‐based Host for the Recognition of Pd2+ and Fe3+ ions in Water

Abstract:The development of coordination‐based host for the detection of heavy metal ions in aqueous medium is a challenging task. We report 1,8‐naphthalimide‐based pseudo‐crown ether host which possess hexaethylene glycol chain for the selective binding of Pd2+ and Fe3+ with higher affinity for Pd2+ over Fe3+ ions. The lowest detection limits for Pd2+ and Fe3+ ions are 2.5 nM and 15 nM, respectively.
