Pseudomonas helmanticensis sp. nov., isolated from forest soil

Abstract: A bacterial strain, OHA11 T , was isolated during the course of a study of phosphate-solubilizing bacteria occurring in a forest soil from Salamanca, Spain. The 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain OHA11 T shared 99.1 % similarity with respect to Pseudomonas baetica a390 T , and 98.9 % similarity with the type strains of Pseudomonas jessenii, Pseudomonas moorei, Pseudomonas umsongensis, Pseudomonas mohnii and Pseudomonas koreensis. The analysis of housekeeping genes rpoB, rpoD and gyrB confirmed its phylogenetic a… Show more

“…Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA, gyrB , rpoD and rpoB nucleotide sequences, both individually and concatenated (MLSA), was performed using sequences of type strains of related species, showing 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities ≥98.5 %. Similar studies were performed previously by Ramírez-Bahena et al (2014).…”

“…The first lineage comprises the P. fluorescens , P. syringae , P. lutea , P. putida , P. anguilliseptica and P. stra<1?show=[fo]?>minea groups, whereas the second includes the P. aeruginosa , P. oleovorans , P. oryzihabitans and P. stutzeri groups. The genus Pseudomonas continues to expand and, since 2013, nine novel species isolated from a wide variety of environments have been described: Pseudomonas chengduensis (Tao et al , 2014), P. formosensis (Lin et al , 2013b), P. guangdongensis (Yang et al , 2013), P. guariconensis (Toro et al , 2013), P. guguanensis (Liu et al , 2013), P. helmanticensis (Ramírez-Bahena et al , 2014), P. kunmingensis (Xie et al , 2014), P. punonensis (Ramos et al , 2013) and P. sagittaria (Lin et al , 2013a).…”

“…P-7 and P-14 branched off from a cluster including P. moorei (19), P. vancouverensis (21), and P. jessenii (25). P-1 and P-16, respectively, branched off from a cluster including P. granadensis (27) and P. helmanticensis (18). P-12 branched off from P. batumici (28).…”

“…One strain (P-20) had high similarity to the Janthinobacterium genus, and the other 29 strains had high similarity to the Pseudomonas genus. According to the closest match species, we classified the 29 strains into 10 groups as follows: Pseudomonas helmanticensis (18), Pseudomonas moorei (19), Pseudomonas koreensis (20), Pseudomonas mohnii (19) P-1 P-2 P-3 P-4 P-5 P-6 P-7 P-8 P-9 P-10 P-11 P-12 P-13 P-14 P-15 P-16 P-17 P-18 P-19 P-20 P-21 P-22 P-23 P-24 P-25 P-26 P-27 P-28 2 "growth inhibitory activity" indicates the growth inhibitory activities of the supernatants of the isolates against microbes (E. coli, S. aureus, and C. albicans). The growth inhibitory activity was defined as the maximum dilution of the supernatants that inhibited the growth of the pathogens.…”
