“…The syntheses of the metabolites reach the greatest levels in a certain period of the culture, and metabolite accumulation in cultures harvested before or after this period could signi cantly reduce (Lee et al 2001;Moussous et al 2018;Ono et al 1998). Therefore, in this study, L-Phe applications as a precursor and different culture durations were used to determine their effects on root growth, alkaloid and phenolic production in H. niger adventitious root cultures and to create a protocol that provides high metabolite yield.…”

“…). Therefore, it is possible to increase metabolite productivity by determining the most appropriate culture duration when synthesis is at the highest level for in vitro secondary metabolite production (Moussous et al 2018). Secondary metabolite yield will be low if in vitro plants are not harvested during the period when secondary metabolite production is high.…”

“…In B. candida hairy roots, elicitation with pectinase have also increased the release of scopolamine by 1500% and hyoscyamine by 1100% ( Pitta Alvarez et al., 2003 ). Bacterial strains of Pseudomonus were used as biotic elicitors in D. stramonium hairy roots, which enhanced hyscyamine and scopolamine production maximally by 583% and 265% respectively ( Moussous et al., 2018 ). Chitosan as a biotic elicitor has showed 2.5 to 3-fold enhancement in hyoscyamine production in hairy roots of Hyoscyamus muticus ( Oksman-Caldentey et al., 1991 ).…”
