PSX-40 Late-Breaking Abstract: Effect of Dietary Replacement of Fishmeal by Insect Meal on Growth Performance and Non-specific Immunity of Growing Pigs

Abstract: Recent data show that dried larvae of darkling beetles (Zophobas morio L., DZML) and dried larvae of wax moths (Galleria mellonella L., DGML) contains a significant amount of protein, fat, chitin, melanin, antimicrobial peptides, trace elements etc. Larva’s fat is rich in lauric and other medium-chain fatty acids. The aim of our research was to study the influence of dietary replacement of fishmeal (FM) by insect meal on growth performance and nonspecific immunity of growing pigs. Experiments were performed us… Show more

“…For example, BSFLF feeding was associated with a slight decrease in somatic cell count in the milk of D10&D100 animals ( p = 0.37, Table 8 ). Previously, in young cattle, we showed a significant effect of feeding melanin protein-energy supplement of Hermetia illucens larvae on non-specific immunity and intestinal microbiocenosis composition in experimental animals [ 68 ]. There is evidence of increased immunity in animals when feeding them various components of insect larvae [ 40 ].…”

“…Besides that the super starter and prestarter should contain components of animal origin with high biological value, since the digestive system of piglets in the first days of life is configured to consume milk and dairy products. Therefore, manufacturers often introduces powdered milk or whey powder into the composition of the first mixed feed [11].…”

At the same time, silicon-based zeolite contributes to the formation of denser fecal masses, reduces or completely eliminates the development of diarrhea [10][11][12]. All this contributes to the improvement of nutrients and biologically active IOP Conf.…”
