“…Metaverse has been believed to blur the boundary between the physical and virtual worlds (Soliman et al ., 2017; Suh and Prophet, 2018) as well as the boundary between utility and hedonism, thus making metaverse technologies akin to dual-purposed ISs (Hamari and Koivisto, 2015; Lee and Kim, 2022; Köse et al ., 2019; Koivisto and Hamari, 2019; Kool and Agrawal, 2016; Wu and Lu, 2013). Since user acceptance is an important facet of a successfully implemented new technology (Davis, 1993; Dillon and Morris, 1996), a considerable amount of research has focused on the acceptance of the metaverse, and the TAM model is the most commonly used theoretical framework (see, e.g.…”

“…Debatably, the pictograms and logograms are devised to meet certain requirements. Driven by the smallness of screen size of modern gadgets, texters innovatively develop a set of techniques including abbreviation, graphones, word or phrase shortening, and so forth (Crystal, 2008;Gorney, 2012;Kool & Agrawal, 2016;Waldrone et al, 2016;Zappavigna, 2012). Nonetheless, Nenagh and Abbie (2017) traced 728 Australian undergraduates' textisms (from 2009 to 2015), and the findings showed a decline of textese.…”

“…For audio coding, a famous demonstration at the AT&T Bell Labs in the early 1990s showed that exploiting the input signal characteristics and human auditory perception dramatically lowered the signal-to-quantizationnoise ratio required for perceptually transparent audio coding. In particular, the demonstration, which is now often referred to as the "13dB miracle" [20,21], showed that the quantization noise corresponding to a segment-wise SNR of 13 dB is inaudible if the noise spectrum is shaped according to the human auditory system. Based on this observation, the underlying hypothesis of our work is that the requirements to the TIR can be dramatically lowered if the input signal characteristic and the human auditory perception are taken into account, and we here take a first step to confirm this hypothesis.…”
