“…They show that the designed 2D-WS 2 sensor performed well as a very accurate and dependable relative humidity probe for sustainable applications. As per the outcomes of Qiyilan Guang et al [15], the overabundance of Au on the WS 2 's surface of micro-flakes enhanced the gas-sensing properties by means of the synergistic effect of chemical and electrical hypersensitivity between WS 2 and Au. All of the aforementioned literature writings have proven that WS 2 material with doping is a valuable material for gas sensing.…”

“…The typical sensing processes are involved with the redox reactions between targeted gas species and the preadsorbed ionized O 2 , typically O 2 – at low temperatures, at surface of the semiconductor sensing materials. The O 2 – would be consumed and discharge its seized electrons backward into the surfaces of sensitive materials leading to a change of electrical resistances of the sensors. Therefore, the following reactions are likely occurred during the sensing processes to NH 3 O 2 ( a i r ) O 2 ( a d s ) O 2 ( a d s ) + e O 2 ( a d s ) ( normalb normale normall normalo normalw 100 .25em ° C ) 4 normalN H 3 + 7 O 2 4 normalN O 2 + 6 H 2 normalO + 7 e When the NiO/WS 2 heterostructure sensing material was exposed to air, O 2 in air would be absorbed at the surfaces of NiO/WS 2 material (reaction ). They would capture the electrons from the CB of the sensitive materials and then be transformed to the ionized oxygen state (O 2 – ) according to reactions (2–3).…”

“…Au-decoration is a feasible technique to enhance the gas sensing features of TMDs owing to catalytic and electronic effects of Au NPs. 144,186 Au-decorated 2D WS 2 NS sensors on PI were used in self-heating mode (1–5 V). The sensor had a response of 1.6 on exposure to 50 ppm of CO gas with 2 V applied voltage.…”
