Pulmonary embolism as a complication after abdominal surgery and colitis in a foal

Abstract: Summary This report describes a fatal pulmonary embolism in a foal, as a sequela of septic thrombophlebitis of the right jugular vein and/or a generalised hypercoagulable state. The foal underwent abdominal surgery and suffered from severe and prolonged colitis.
