Pulmonary Involvement in the Antisynthetase Syndrome: A Comparative Cross-sectional Study

Abstract: To our knowledge, this study is the first to demonstrate a highly significant difference in PFT between patients with antisynthetase syndrome with 6 years of followup and healthy controls. DLCO displayed the highest difference with mean 53% lower value in the patients. FVC and DLCO correlated significantly with ILD extent, indicating these variables as appropriate outcome measures in antisynthetase syndrome-associated ILD.

“…To study the interactions, 50 mg matrices (S-R and S-Y) were soaked with 1 mL of bLf solutions (0.063-10 mg/mL) in adsorption buffer (20 mM sodium phosphate buffer, pH 7.0) for 16 h at 25ЊC. The concentration of commercial bLf in the supernatants was determined spectrophotometrically at 280 nm considering an absorption coefficient of 1.51 mL/mg·cm [20]. The equilibrium concentration of bLf bound to the matrix per unit of total amount of matrix was calculated by difference between the concentration of bLf at the beginning of the experiment and that remaining in the soluble phase after adsorption.…”

“…Altogether, 54 of the 68 patients (79%) had been diagnosed with myositis by their treating physician prior to study inclusion; 27 with PM, 25 with DM and two with hypomyopathic/amyopathic DM. For comparison, 97% were diagnosed with ILD [23]. The 54 ASS patients with a prior myositis diagnosis had longer median disease duration (76 months, range 6–232) than the 14 cases without myositis (22 months, range 7–230; p  < 0.001).…”

“…The study cohort has been described elsewhere [23]. Briefly, the cohort included 68 ASS patients and 67 healthy age and sex-matched controls examined at Oslo University Hospital between September 2011 and June 2014.…”

“…The AN ligand density was calculated based on the acid volume consumed in the titration. In this study, six AN SepFF adsorbents with ligand densities of 15,20,26,29,55, and 64 mmol/L (herein referred to as AN15 SepFF, AN20 SepFF, AN26 SepFF, AN29 SepFF, AN55 SepFF, and AN64 SepFF) were prepared for the purification of IgG.…”

“…In single-column chromatography, however, it is difficult to simultaneously achieve high purity as well as high binding capacity and yield. Accumulating evidence suggests that high binding capacity for organic acids, sugars, or other low-molecular-weight compounds along with high purity and yield can easily be obtained by simulated moving bed (SMB) chromatography, even in cases in which the adsorbents exhibit significant binding of impurities [28][29][30]. Likely, SMB chromatography is widely used in the separation of proteins, plasmids, and even virus [30][31][32].…”
