Pulmonary rehabilitation

Abstract: Pulmonary rehabilitation is a comprehensive intervention designed to improve the physical and psychological condition of people with chronic respiratory disease and promote the long-term adherence to health-enhancing behaviours. During the 2013 European Respiratory Society Annual Congress in Barcelona, Spain, a Clinical Year in Review session was held focusing on the latest developments in pulmonary rehabilitation. This review summarises some of the main findings of peer-reviewed articles focusing on pulmonary… Show more

“…For nucleosynthesis of H and He burning, 51 isotopes up to Si are included, and after He burning 240 isotopes up to Ge are included. 1 Schwartzshild criterion is adopted for convective stability criterion and diffusive convective mixing by Spruit (1992) is adopted. In this work, a case for relatively slow mixing, f k = 0.05 (Saio & Nomoto 2000), is investigated.…”

“…To save computer time, we use a small nuclear reaction network up to magnesium. Convective mixing is treated diffusively adopting the effective diffusion coefficient derived by Spruit (1992). Although the coefficient was derived for semiconvective mixing (corresponding to the Schwarzschild type), it leads to a uniform chemical composition distribution in the fully convective zone.…”

“…Pulmonary rehabilitation is an internationally acknowledged intervention, which is shown to be effective to improve dyspnea, health status, and exercise tolerance (McCarthy et al, 2015). Multidisciplinary pulmonary rehabilitation programmes are wellestablished and consist of several components that can be used to meet the goals and needs of the individual patient (Spruit, 2014). Along with exercise training, most programmes comprise educational components with the purpose of both increasing knowledge and improving skills required for effective self-management (Spruit, 2014).…”

Along with exercise training, most programmes comprise educational components with the purpose of both increasing knowledge and improving skills required for effective self-management (Spruit, 2014). However, there are several barriers to both partial and full participation in pulmonary rehabilitation programmes (Cassidy, Turnbull, Gardani, & Kirkwood, 2014;Cox, Oliveira, Lahham, & Holland, 2017;Keating, Lee, & Holland, 2011;Rochester et al, 2015).…”
