“…For example, the multilayer plastic films used to make food packaging boxes are extremely difficult to recycle due to their intricate compositions and the incompatibility of their various polymer layers. Additionally, the inherent contaminant nature of colored PET deters its suitability to undergo chemical recycling [79]. To address this challenge, innovations such as STRAP have been developed to generate solvent systems for recycling multilayer polymers through selective dissolution.…”

“…When the contaminated material is applied with an electric field, the material is gradually acidified and the limiting current is very low due to the decomposition of water on the anion exchange membrane. An applied electric field causes charged species, or ions, to migrate to oppositely charged electrodes; during this process, metals and other elements concentrate in the electrolyte. Furthermore, the ion exchange membrane ensures the use of electric current to move ions in the medium without supplying new ions from the electrolyte, thus ensuring the efficient use of energy. Contaminated material is often agitated in an intermediate chamber to prevent deposition of waste material that slows metal extraction. , Moreover, some EDS experiments have shown that the removal of different heavy metals varies, and it was found that the removal of anodes may be due to the complexation reaction of divalent metal ions with chlorides to form stable negatively charged complexes (MeCl 3 – , MeCl 4 2– ) .…”

“…Recently, several investigations have been performed to exploit FA for other applications such as water purification, filtration, adsorption, etc. [ 13 , 14 , 15 , 16 ]. Since FA possesses excellent adsorption properties, it has been used as an adsorbent for the removal of organic pollutants and heavy metal ions from water [ 13 , 17 , 18 , 19 ].…”
