This study provides a technical analysis of integrating a microgrid structure for power generation with a wind energy conversion system. This study's primary objective is to identify solutions to issues that arise when isolated induction generator is utilized in a microgrid. A closed loop electronic load connector is used to control the loads of the induction generator-based system. The load controller is adjusted using an adaptive fuzzy based proportional-integral controller for better control. Additionally, by employing a straightforward variable capacitor design to inject reactive power during voltage dips, it provides a way to sustain the voltage profile. The suggested approach and its control are investigated in MATLAB/Simulink and verified with the aid of a lab experimental setup. The outcomes clearly demonstrate the practicality of the suggested plan to be implemented in grid-isolated places.

The Green Deal and increased nutritional needs are driving factors in human activities nowadays. Agriculture is an essential economic sector that can profit from the application of renewable energy sources by the assimilation of off-grid, arid and barren terrains. Power supplied by hybrid systems for water pumping is a solution for overcoming the stochastic character of the renewable energy sources. This paper presents a sizing methodology for a hybrid system with wind and PV generation and water tank storage, based on the consideration of the entire energy conversion chain with energy models and a one-year operation simulation. The PV generator is modeled using a reduced Durisch’s model, while for the wind generator a piecewise interpolation is used. The methodology is applied for sites in Bulgaria with specific agricultural crops and meteorological data. Combinations of PV (different technologies) and wind (different types) generators and water tank capacities are considered and discussed. The combinations are compared on the basis of three criteria: the investment cost, the satisfaction of crop requirements and system oversizing. The possibility for the introduction of battery storage is also examined. The results show some trends in the hybrid system sizing and the possibility to apply the proposed methodology for various sites, generators and crops.

Currently, the whole world is facing energy shortage and water crisis. Management of water and energy usage in irrigation is essential to overcome the current crisis. This research introduces a techno-economic study to achieve simultaneous optimization of cost, active power loss and water quantity without violating the crop water requirement. Four scenarios are proposed incorporating energy demand-side management, PV panels integration and modification of the irrigation schedule and irrigation methodology for comparison against the existing scenario of pump-based irrigation system in Karot line, Assiut, Egypt. The grid-connected PV panels scenario achieves minimum system cost as well as minimum total system active-power loss and water quantity when compared with the other scenarios. Grid-connected PV panels with surface irrigation reduce the total system cost by 93% when compared with that of the Karot line. On the other hand, grid-connected PV panels with drip irrigation give a much more saving in water quantity and a further reduction in the total system active-power loss by 48.1 and 25.13%, respectively, when compared with those of the Karot line case.
