Abstract:The pyoverdine siderophore is produced byPseudomonas aeruginosato access iron. Its synthesis involves the complex co-ordination of four nonribosomal peptide synthetases (NRPSs), responsible for assembling the pyoverdine peptide backbone. The precise cellular organization of these NRPSs and their mechanisms of interaction remain unclear. Here, we used a combination of several single-molecule microscopy techniques to to elucidate the spatial arrangement of NRPSs within pyoverdine-producing cells. Our findings rev… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
