Abstract:The configuration at a stereogenic nitrogen center (SNC) determines the spatial organization of a molecule as do stereogenic carbon centers or other stereochemical moieties. The contributions of SNCs to molecular function and their consideration in molecular design are rarely prominently presented. Underlying is the configurational lability of SNCs with a free electron pair and the scarcity of methods for the stereoselective synthesis of compounds with SNCs in general. In this review, we discuss methods to acc… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
