Qualitative and quantitative analysis of seven signature components in the fruiting body of Antrodia cinnamomea by HPLC—ESI—MS/MS

Abstract: Summary. An accurate and rapid liquid chromatography-electrospray ionizaiontandem mass spectrometry (LC-ESI-MS/MS) analytical method was developed and validated for the simultaneous determination of antcins A, B, C, H, and K, dehydroeburicoic acid, and 4,7-dimethoxy-5-methyl-1,3-benzodioxole in the extract and capsule of Antrodia cinnamomea (AC) fruiting body. These seven signature compounds were ionized using an electrospray ion source and analyzed by a triple-quadrupole mass analyzer under a multiple reactio… Show more

“…To resolve these issues, scientists use the more sensitive liquid chromatography–tandem MS (HPLC-MS/MS), which can offer better overall information, such as molecular weight, retention time, and analyte collision fragments. Accordingly, a validated HPLC-MS/MS method for the quick and precise measurement of compounds from A. cinnamomea was established [ 94 ]. The method can be used to simultaneously measure seven characteristic chemicals, including antcin A, antcin B, antcin C, antcin H, antcin K, dehydroeburicoic acid, and DMB [ 94 ].…”

“…The compounds, including a benzenoid and four triterpenoids Antcin K, C, H and A, were identified in the extract of Antrodia camphorata by LC-MS ( Figure 3). Their molecular ions (m/z) were matched with those of references [1,21] and the results were listed in Table 1,…”

“…However, current reports about the chemical fingerprint of A. cinnamomea are scattered, and the systematic study is lacking. Furthermore, the studies on A. cinnamomea are mostly focused on the therapeutic effects or quantitative analysis of individual components 19 , 20 , 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 . From a holistic perspective, the comprehensive chemical fingerprint and the correlations among the chemical composition, molecular targets, signaling pathway and anti-HCC activity have remained elusive.…”
