Quality of Life Through the Prism of the Roy Adaptation Model

Abstract: This concept analysis is to expand knowledge about quality of life within the Roy adaptation model. The Walker and Avant concept analysis methodology is utilized. “…Roy's theory states that physical stimulus is one of the external factors of a regulator coping mechanism [18]. It is expected that with coping mechanisms, someone can achieve four adaptive modes that aim to improve their adaptation to contribute to the health and quality of life and to provide adaptive responses [19], [20]. Regular and sustained physical (sporting) activities contribute to increasing the production and release of endorphins.…”

“…As a result of going through Walker and Avant’s (2019) conceptual analysis method, Gonzalez (2017) formulated a definition of trust, “confident reliance with certainty” (p. 359). In similar fashion, Almasloukh and Fahs (2021) stated the attributes for quality of life as “balance, self-esteem, and satisfaction” (p. 70). As part of the process for Walker and Avant’s (2019) conceptual analysis method, model and other cases are presented.…”

“…Gonzalez (2017) explored the concept of trust using Watson’s theoretical perspective. In comparison, Almasloukh and Fahs (2021) analyzed the concept of quality of life through the lens of Roy’s adaptation model. As a result of going through Walker and Avant’s (2019) conceptual analysis method, Gonzalez (2017) formulated a definition of trust, “confident reliance with certainty” (p. 359).…”
