Quantitative trait locus analysis of wheat quality traits

Abstract: Milling and baking quality traits in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) were studied by QTL analysis in the ITMI population, a set of 114 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) generated from a synthetic-hexaploid (W7985) x bread-wheat (Opata 85) cross. Grain from RILs grown in U.S., French, and Mexican wheat-growing regions was assayed for kernel-texture traits, protein concentration and quality, and dough strength and mixing traits. Only kernel-texture traits showed similar genetic control in all environments, with Opata… Show more

“…The Ha locus was found to have a strong influence on milling yield (Campbell et al 1999). Consistent with this result, Martin et al (2001) and Nelson et al (2006) both detected strong negative correlations between grain hardness and milling yield. (3) For economical reasons, flour yield or milling yield is also an important quality criterion (Marshall et al 1986), which may be affected by field variation and by variation from the laboratory (Smith et al 2001).…”

“…Synthetics derived from cultivated durum (T. turgidum ssp. durum) have been used in QTL studies (Nelson et al 1995;Mujeeb-Kazi et al 1996;Börner et al 2002;Huang et al 2003Huang et al , 2004Nelson et al 2006). Synthetics derived from tetraploid wild emmer (T. turgidum spp.…”

“…The low-molecular weight Glu-A3 locus on 1A influenced SDS-unextractable polymeric proteins (UPP and UVHP), bake water absorption and bake mixing time. We detected two QTL clusters on 6D, one cluster near the storage protein locus on the short arm of chromosome 6D as previously reported by Nelson et al (2006). The other QTL cluster was located on the long arm of 6D.…”

“…Ainda na figura 4a, se observa que os caracteres "RG, RP, CPG, GS e GU" e "W, P/L e NQ" são associados entre si, conforme também verificado por Talgre et al (2009) e Gao et al (2012. A associação entre P/L e W também foi observada por Nelson et al (2006) e Mohammed et al (2011); esses autores também observaram associação positiva entre a relação elasticidade/extensibilidade com elasticidade e força de glúten.…”
