Quantum chemistry mechanism study on preventing slag‐bonding via modifying the material surface properties

Abstract: A huge amount of coal with high content of Na and K in ash was found in Xinjiang Province, China. However, the most serious ash fouling/slagging problems of that kind of coal usually cause the increasing of operating costs and energy consumption in a power plant. In order to clarify the mechanism of the effect on ash deposition behavior on different material surfaces, the experimental study, as well as quantum chemistry calculation, was used in this study. The results show that the nickel‐based material can si… Show more

“…Apparently, Alkalis which were related to the formation of the initial layer was observed only in Case 1, whereas there was no significant alkalis compounds detected in Case 2. Some researchers also found similar phenomenon . It was mainly because that the different adsorption energies between the material surface and the alkalis would affect the content of alkalis .…”

“…The average global temperature has increased significantly since the late 18th century . CO 2 derived from the combustion of fossil fuel are considered as the major contributor to global warming. In recent years, much effort has been made to cut down the CO 2 emissions from coal-fired power plants. Oxy-fuel combustion is considered as one competitive carbon capture technology, in which the recycled flue gas is used for dilution and the highly concentrated CO 2 is achieved for the further capture process.…”
