Abstract

How far can this portfolio of landraces, and its genetic diversity, be considered as a cultural trait of the Duupa ethnic group ? Looking at social processes underlying the seed system and the genetic structure of sorghum reveals that its area is larger than villages and ethnic group territories. The genetic resources of Duupa sorghum appears to be similar to that of their Dowayo neighbors with whom they differ in language and many features of their cultural system.
