“…This regime resulted in significant relieve of the patient’s symptoms. As vitamin C potentiates the pharmacological effect of flavonoid [ 55 ], the combined use of vitamin C and Quercetin (a flavonoid drug) could have a synergistic antiviral effect [ 90 ]. Having said that, there is a suggestion that vitamin C and Quercetin can be used as an adjunctive treatment to other promising drugs, such as remdesivir, in management of COVID-19 [ 90 ].…”

“…Recent studies recommended the consumption of vitamin C to control lower respiratory tract infections, and vitamin C supplementation represents one of the most compelling therapeutic interventions for COVID-19 [ 87 , 88 , 89 , 90 ]. Vitamin C’s primary function in the immune response against infections is to act as a potent antioxidant.…”

“…Under certain circumstances such as contraindications of acyclovir, vitamin C and quercetin might be considered as alternative treatments, which have been proved to display immunomodulatory function and anti-viral effect. 16 In addition, the patients with herpes zoster should be placed on contact precautions to avoid varicella zoster virus transmission to susceptible persons such as other COVID-19 patients.…”
