Abstract: The fusion of mononuclear trophoblasts into multinucleate syncytiotrophoblasts is the critical event in the process of syncytialization, and its dysregulation can lead to pregnancy complications, notably hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP). Oxidative stress may disrupt trophoblast syncytialization in HDP.
