Radioimmunological Methods for the Estimation of Oestrone, Oestradiol 17β and Oestriol in Pregnancy Plasma

Abstract: BY SUMMARY Antibodies to oestradiol-17p and oestriol have been produced by immunization of sheep with oestradiol-6-oxime and oestriol-6-oxime attached to bovine serum albumin (BSA). The antibodies were used in radioimmunoassays. In the oestradiol-17p assay the free and bound steroids were separated by means of dextrancoated charcoal. This technique caused a heavy stripping when tried in the oestriol assay. A new assay for oestriol in plasma was thus devised. In this assay, oestriol and antibody were incubated a… Show more

“…The radioimmunoassay for oestradiol was that described by Lindberg, Lindberg, Martinsson & Johansson (1974). The antiserum was raised in sheep against oestradiol-17-ß-oxime conjugated with BSA and used at a dilution of 1:100 000.…”

“…The specificity of the antisera used for the assays of progesterone [12] and oestradiol [13] has been described earlier. The dextran coated charcoal method was used for the separation of bound and unbound radioactivity.…”

“…All samples were ana lyzed at the same time. For unconjugated estrone and estradiol, a sensitive RIA method earlier described was used [7,8]. The detection limit was 19 pmol/1 for Ei and Ei.…”
