“…The three Raman-active modes, E g , B 2g and A 1g recorded in the vicinity of 561, 728 and 752 cm 1 , respectively, had their positions near those of the IrO 2 single crystal. 13 Moreover, the values of FWHM were slightly larger than those observed for the SCs. The Raman spectra observed in this work were used to confirm the formation of highquality, nearly stress free IrO 2 NCs.…”

“…The formation of IrO 2 NTs of single crystalline quality, as determined from the TEM and XRD studies, rules out the possibility of significant disorder in the crystal structure. Accordingly, the results of a 9 cm 1 redshift in the peak position (E g at 552 cm 1 ) and the larger linewidth (FWHM ¾ 28 cm 1 ) as compared with the bulk (E g at 561 cm 1 , FWHM D 12 cm 1 ) 13 should be more related to the nanoscale nature of the 1D oxide materials. 1,26 -28 Chen et al 25 also claimed that the very small contact area of NTs with the substrate ruled out any strain effect.…”

“…16 Only three modes are Raman active in the range of measurements (500-800 cm 1 ), with symmetries E g , B 2g and A 1g . 17 The forms of the scattering tensors˛, which correspond to the three Raman-active modes, in materials of the D 14 4h space group are: 17 To examine experimentally a given component˛i j , the geometry is arranged such that the incident light is polarized in the 'i' direction while only the scattered light of 'j' polarization is observed. We adopted the following notation for the various axes used in this experiment:…”
