Rapid and high yield Extraction method for Saponins from Safed musli

Abstract: Objectives:We aimed to develop, compare and optimise rapid and high yield extraction method for saponins of Safed musli using conventional extraction techniques and as well as modern microwave assisted solvent extraction method. Materials and methods: Roots of Safed musli (Chlorophytum borivilianum) are extracted by maceration, soxhlet, sonication and microwave methods. Extract further fractionated to obtain total saponins. Microwave assisted solvent extraction (MASE) method is optimised using Taguchi L9 ortho… Show more

“…First, soyasaponin was extracted from soybean seeds by the microwave-assisted solvent extraction method. Successful extraction of soyasaponin by this method was also reported by Deore et al., (2015) . Waziiroh and Kamilia (2018) also suggested this solvent extraction as a reliable method for soyasaponin extraction from plant sources.…”

“…The propolis extraction requires special techniques because of its unique characteristics. This study used ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) because its wave increases the solubility of active compounds through a mechanical effect to break the matrix, thus, producing highquality extract (Dhanani et al, 2013;Deore & Baviskar, 2015). Similarly, Khacha-Ananda et al, (2013) also used UAE and the yielded propolis extraction of 15.66%.…”

“…The wave increases cell permeability thus result in optimum solubility of the active component. 15 The procedures refered to Trusheva method with slight modification. 16 Raw propolis was added to solvents (1:10) then treated with ultrasound for 4h.…”
