“…Note that on the basis of the similarity of their optical properties, the kahlerite of Meixner (1953) is equivalent to the metakahlerite of Walenta (1965a). However, both kahlerite and metakahlerite were found in an assemblage of supergene alteration phases in a context of uranium mineralization in Scotland by Braithwaite & Knight (1990). Miller & Taylor (1986) determined, on the basis of material from the Ranger I mine, Northern Territory, Australia, that saléeite is monoclinic (in agreement with Piret & Deliens 1980), with formula Mg[(UO 2 )(PO 4 )] 2 (H 2 O) 10 , and presented a refinement in the standard space-group P2 1 /c, with a 6.951(3), b 19.947(8), c 9.864(4) Å, ␤ 135.17(2)°, R1 = 5.3%.…”

“…The ubiquitous association with uranium suggests that hydrocarbons circulating in the fault zone were precipitated by the effects of irradiation from the uranium (Parnell 1988a). The most intensively studied site at Needles Eye, Southwick (Miller and Taylor 1966;Braithwaite and Knight 1990) was the source of samples analysed in the present work. 4.…”

“…Others have been reported in the literature (BRAITHWAITE & KNIGHT 1990;DUNIN-BARKOVSKAYA 1976;HESS 1983;KRAUSE et al 1997;OLMI et al 1988;WALENTA 1960) but their species status remains unresolved. It should be noted that formulae given above refer to ideal, endmember compositions; extensive solid solution in the A site and involving P for As is known for naturally occurring material.…”
