Real-World Experiences With Facilitated Subcutaneous Immunoglobulin Substitution in Patients With Hypogammaglobulinemia, Using a Three-Step Ramp-Up Schedule

Abstract: Immunoglobulin replacement therapy with facilitated subcutaneous immunoglobulin (fSCIg) can be self-administrated at home and given at longer intervals compared to subcutaneous immunoglobulin (SCIg) therapy, but real-word experience of home-based fSCIg therapy is limited. Herein we present our real-word clinical experiences with home-based fSCIg therapy using a three-step ramp-up schedule. We registered data from all patients with immunodeficiency starting fSCIg from 01.01.2017 to 31.12.2019. For comparison we… Show more

“…Treating healthcare professionals should counsel patients that the SCIG infusion frequency may lead to more local adverse reactions. For IG-naïve patients, there are several strategies for initiating SCIG therapy [ 44 , 46 , 47 ]. These include initiation with a loading dose (SCIG or IVIG) for patients with very low IgG levels [ 44 , 46 , 47 ].…”

These include initiation with a loading dose (SCIG or IVIG) for patients with very low IgG levels [ 44 , 46 , 47 ]. Some patients treated long-term with lower volumes of IG per site may be reluctant to try higher volumes compared with patients who started therapy with relatively higher infusion volumes per site.…”
