Recent advances in nanomaterial‐assisted electrochemical sensors for food safety analysis

Abstract: Food safety as a public health issue has aroused worldwide concern. Food safety risks caused by the existence of food safety hazards in food may occur in all stages of the food supply chain. Thus, great emphasis is placed on sensitive, selective, and convenient analytical methods of various food safety hazards in food. At present, nanomaterials are at the forefront of various electrochemical sensing applications. Given their unique physical, chemical, and biological characteristics, nanomaterials are considere… Show more

“…The colorimetric detection of pesticides based on nanoparticle aggregation utilizes the potential of both optical and analytical nanotechnology. Nanoparticles have been used as probes for colorimetric assays via functionalization, “host‐guest” chemistry, and aggregation (N. Choi et al., 2021; Fang et al., 2021; Gu et al., 2022; Lu et al., 2019; Patel et al., 2021; Sahoo et al., 2021; Umapathi et al., 2021; Umapathi, Ghoreishian, et al., 2022; Umapathi, Park, et al., 2022; L. “…The MR is often used by food manufacturer to develop appealing aromas, color or texture in baked foods. However, despite some positive aspects, the MR could decrease the nutritional value of baked foods, generate potentially harmful compounds ( Neda et al, 2021 ; Gu et al,2022 ). In 1994, THE International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) listed AM as a “robable human carcinogen (Class 2A)" ( IARC, 1994 ).…”

“…As a kind of ultrasensitive detection method, electrochemical sensors for synephrine are attractive to researchers because of their convenience, portability, and sensitivity ( Wang et al, 2021 ; Yan et al, 2022 ). Through the customizations in size and composition of sensors, in the combination of the designed small and portable workstation, a preliminary and rapid detection of synephrine could be completed in the field, which would save a lot of time and labor in agricultural research ( Gu et al, 2022 ). The screen-printed carbon electrode (SPCE) is a type of inexpensive and versatile sensor.…”
