Recent advances in polyphenols improving vascular endothelial dysfunction induced by endogenous toxicity

Abstract: Endothelial dysfunction is the early marker and precursor for the development of a series of vascular disease. Epidemiologic and experimental evidences have suggested that regular consumptions of polyphenol rich extracts or individual phenolic compounds both improve endothelial function. The present review concludes the recent advances in the protective effects of polyphenol‐rich extracts and individual phenolic compounds on the endothelial function. The vascular protective benefits of polyphenol have been wel… Show more

“…The endothelial impairment partially reversed by onion and apple powder intake could be attributed to the vascular-protective role of polyphenols (and especially their antioxidant properties) through the modification of the oxidative stress status [ 112 , 113 ]. For example, there is scientific evidence in experimental studies about the quercetin direct acute vasodilator effects in isolated arteries and prevention of endothelial dysfunction, superoxide production and overexpression of p47 phox induced by angiotensin II in rat aorta [ 114 ].…”

“…Xie и соавт. (2021) продемонстрировали, что регулярное употребление богатых полифенолами экстрактов или отдельных фенольных соединений улучшает функцию эндотелия при различных патологиях, включая интоксикацию этанолом [14]. В ранее проведенных исследованиях было установлено, что водно-этанольное извлечение из листьев омелы белой содержит более 13% веществ полифенольной структуры и оказывает выраженное антиоксидантное действие [15].…”

“…One example is the interaction between NPs and phytochemicals. Phytochemicals are natural products derived from plants and possess health beneficial effects, such as anti‐oxidative stress, anti‐cancer, and anti‐atherosclerosis development (Cao et al, 2020; Xie et al, 2021). As such, phytochemicals are widely used in many commercial products, including food and food‐related products (Chen et al, 2021; Zhao et al, 2022; Zhu et al, 2018).…”
