Recent advances in the antilung cancer activity of biosynthesized gold nanoparticles

Abstract: Gold nanoparticles (Au‐NPs) have been widely used in biomedical fields such as imaging, diagnosis, and treatment because of their special characteristics. Au‐NPs can be synthesized using several methods, including the biological method, also called green or eco‐friendly synthesis. Recent studies have reported the anticancer activity of biosynthesized Au‐NPs, especially in lung cancer. This review focused on the advances in the antilung cancer activity of biosynthesized Au‐NPs and its potential mechanisms.

“…The enthusiasm in synthesis, characterization and silver nanoparticles application has grown rapidly against a broad spectrum of microorganisms (36,41) and have a considerably low propensity to activate microbial resistance in comparison to antibiotics (42). For the synthesis of nanoparticles basically, two major paths are followed; these are the top-down and bottom-up approach.…”

“…AuNPs are emerging as novel radiosensitizers for cancer patients because of their synthetic versatility, unique chemical, electronic, and optical properties, and high X-ray absorption [6] . AuNPs have been documented to exert anti-oncogenic activity in lung cancer [7] . More importantly, AuNPs are widely recognized to be a comparatively reliable small interfering RNA (siRNA) delivery strategy due to their biocompatibility and capacity to protect siRNA against degradation and versatility offered by their tunable shape, size and optical properties [8] .…”
