Abstract:Red blood cells (RBCs) start to break down early in hemolytic anemia, which can be chronic or lifethreatening. It should be considered while determining if normocytic or macrocytic anemia is present. Hemolysis in the reticuloendothelial system may happen intravascularly, extravascularly, or both.
