Recent approaches for enhancing sensitivity in enantioseparations by CE

Abstract: This article reviews the latest methodological and instrumental improvements for enhancing sensitivity in chiral analysis by CE. The review covers literature from March 2007 until May 2009, that is, the works published after the appearance of the latest review article on the same topic by Sánchez-Hernández et al. [Electrophoresis 2008, 29, 237-251]. Off-line and on-line sample treatment techniques, on-line sample preconcentration strategies based on electrophoretic and chromatographic principles, and alternati… Show more

“…In order to solve this problem, different approaches were used in the last years to enhance the detection sensitivity in chiral analysis of β‐blockers and structurally related compounds, such as offline sample treatment techniques, online sample preconcentration techniques, and alternative detection systems to the widely employed on‐column UV–Vis absorption detection. Online sample preconcentration techniques have been developed to enhance sensitivity in enantioseparations inside the capillary because of its simplicity, high efficiency, and cheapness . The online preconcentration techniques used in chiral CE‐UV analysis are mainly ITP, sample stacking, and sweeping.…”

“…The aim of this review is to introduce the most recent developments in the field of sensitivity enhancement in chiral CE that have been published between June 2015 and May 2017, follows previous reviews on the topic , and compliments other reviews published over this time . The purpose of the present review does not aim to be comprehensive, but to provide to the readers an updated view of the new strategies employed to improve the sensitivity of the chiral analysis by CE in the last 2 years showing interesting approaches in different fields.…”

“…Previously published literature has been summarized in recent reviews on the enantioseparations of pharmaceutical drugs [5][6][7] as well as drug analysis in biological samples [8][9][10]. For general reviews on chiral electromigration techniques the reader is referred to [11][12][13][14][15][16]. Moreover, monographs on chiral CE [17,18] have been published.…”
