“…45,46 Previous H2S sensitive optical probes rely on the presence of an accessible nitroaromatic component which acts as a PeT quencher, but in the presence of aqueous HSis reduced to an amine. 47,48 Motivated by the reactivity of previous nitroaromatic-containing metal complexes, we assessed Na2S as an in situ H2S source to reduce Tb(L3) without significant degradation of the corresponding complex (Figure 4A). Indeed, in the presence of 100 equivalents of Na2S (, full conversion of Tb(L3) to Tb(L4) was obtained.…”

“…Importantly, the limits of detection (LoD) for HS − for XB1 – 3 were calculated to be in the low micromolar range (Table 1, Figure S7–1), comparable to chemodosimeter probes used for detecting H 2 S in aqueous environments and in vitro studies [29] …”

“…4,8 An emerging strategy for treating cancer is targeting their "unique" property of producing endogenous H 2 S that allows differentiating between healthy and malignant tissue. 9 Consequently, there is an active search for theranostic agents to exploit the H 2 S sensing ability and in this context, several detection methods [10][11][12][13][14][15] have been developed in recent years to sense endogenous H 2 S. [16][17][18][19][20] Some fluorescent probes based on naphthalimide 21,22 , rhodamine 23 , fluorescein 24,25 , and cyanine, 26,27 are good in sensitivity and selectivity among others but there are very few reported schemes that can sense endogenous H 2 S and impede cancer cell proliferation at the same time. 28,29 Scheme 1.…”
