“…22 PLA is produced from lactic acid via starch fermentation of lactic bacteria, 10 which gained attention due to its availability, cheapness, 23 biodegradability, and biocompatibility. 21,24 PLA is used mainly for general packaging applications, thanks to its processability through common thermoplastic technologies. 21 Furthermore, PLA nanomaterial has been used extensively for numerous biomedical applications, for example, drug delivery, nanocarriers to encapsulate water-insoluble drugs in the circulating blood, and so on.…”

“…21 Furthermore, PLA nanomaterial has been used extensively for numerous biomedical applications, for example, drug delivery, nanocarriers to encapsulate water-insoluble drugs in the circulating blood, and so on. 24 Regarding biodegradation, several studies showed that PLA is completely degraded under compost conditions. 10 PHA is another material applied in many sectors, which is a polyester of various hydroxy alkanoates that is synthesized by microbial fermentation.…”

“…All these features can ensure that MOFs can be more efficiently carried for different therapeutic molecules or drugs. Although the metal-free polymeric or liposomal nanocarriers have better stability and biocompatibility ( Gupta et al, 2021 ; Liang et al, 2022 ). Inorganic metals such as Zn, Ti, Fe, Mg, Cu, Zr, and Co. contained by MOFs are not only essential elements for body, but also participating in important life activities such as cell proliferation, differentiation, and metabolism.…”

“…In recent years, poly(propylene carbonate) (PPC) as a sustainable and environmentally friendly polymer has attracted the general interest of researchers since it utilizes CO 2 avoiding its disposal. The large-scale use of PPC can realize the recycling of CO 2 , as well as relieve the shortage of nonrenewable (petroleum) resources. More importantly, PPC can improve environmental pollution caused by nondegradable plastics as a biodegradable material. , PPC features good transparency, excellent gas barrier properties, thermal shape memory, good biocompatibility, and processability. However, some inherent defects of PPC, such as a lower glass transition temperature, weak thermal stability, and poor mechanical strength, greatly limit its wide application. Therefore, it is of great significance to improve the defects of PPC to achieve excellent comprehensive performances and broaden its application field for the sustainable development of the environment and human beings.…”
