Inclusion and exclusion criteria were adopted from the German Airway League recommendations [ 10 ]: Patients with postbronchodilator FEV 1 < 60% predicted, history of recurrent exacerbations, hypoxemia (PaO 2 < 50 mm Hg), hypercapnia (PaCO 2 > 45 mm Hg), history of decompensated cor pulmonale, uncontrolled coronary heart disease, uncontrolled arterial hypertension, no history of hemodynamically relevant cardiac rhythm disorders, severe osteoporosis or other comorbities limiting exercise capabilities, severe overweight (body mass index > 35 kg/m 2 ), were excluded. Patients unable or unwilling to attend training sessions regularly were also excluded.…”
