“…For each sample, individual zircons were picked from the heavy concentrates under a binocular microscope, mounted using epoxy resin, polished to expose the zircons, and then imaged using a SEM with cathodoluminescence detector (CL) to identify the best grains and locations for analyses. U-Pb geochronology was performed using laser ablation (LA)-ICPMS on a Teledyne Analyte G2 193 nm Excimer Laser with HeLex II Sample Cell and a Thermo iCAP-RQ ICP-MS at the AAC at JCU (see Todd et al, 2019 for lab details). A 30 µm spot size was used for all analyses, and individual analyses were bracketed and checked by analyzing primary and secondary standards following every 10-12 analyses.…”

“…The comparisons below are restricted to vertebrae from the anterior-to-middle part of the dorsal series. For this reason, we exclude from comparisons several pre-Late Jurassic sauropods for which there are no dorsal vertebrae or for which no information is available, such as Vulcanodon (Africa) or Nebulasaurus , Chinshakiangosaurus , and Anhuilong (Asia), as well as sauropods whose age assignments have been moved forward into the Late Jurassic, such as Shunosaurus (Oxfordian; Wang et al, 2018; but see Zhou et al, 2022) and Rhoetosaurus (early Oxfordian or younger; Todd et al, 2019).…”

“…All U-Pb LA-ICPMS analyses were conducted using a Teledyne Analyte G2 193 nm Excimer Laser with HeLex II Sample Cell and a Thermo iCAP-RQ ICP-MS. The analytical details and instrument setup used is comprehensively described in Todd et al (2019) and Foley, Henderson, et al (2021). A 30-µm spot size was applied across all analyses.…”
