“…Several studies have been conducted globally to study the trends and wave climate variability using hindcasted, reanalysed and in‐situ/satellite datasets (Alves, 2006; Cavaleri & Bertotti, 2004; Cavaleri et al, 2010; Cox & Swail, 2001; Gulev & Grigorieva, 2004; Izaguirre et al, 2011; Wang & Swail, 2006; Young, 1999; Young & Ribal, 2019; Young et al, 2011). Most of the studies (Anoop et al, 2015; Bertin et al, 2013; Bhaskaran, 2014; Hemer et al, 2010; Seymour, 2011; Shanas & Kumar, 2015; Sreelakshmi & Bhaskaran, 2020a, 2020b, 2020c) reported that though wind speeds and wave heights show increasing trends in different regions globally (Hemer et al, 2013), we also observe that wave heights trends decreases in subtropics and increases in the Southern Ocean.…”
