Regulating Charge and Exciton Distribution in High-Performance Hybrid White Organic Light-Emitting Diodes with n-Type Interlayer Switch

Abstract: The interlayer (IL) plays a vital role in hybrid white organic light-emitting diodes (WOLEDs); however, only a negligible amount of attention has been given to n-type ILs. Herein, the n-type IL, for the first time, has been demonstrated to achieve a high efficiency, high color rendering index (CRI), and low voltage trade-off. The device exhibits a maximum total efficiency of 41.5 lm W−1, the highest among hybrid WOLEDs with n-type ILs. In addition, high CRIs (80–88) at practical luminances (≥1000 cd m−2) have … Show more

“…Then the degradation progresses at a lower rate. A proper encapsulation in inert atmosphere [17,18] of the devices is found to be effective in preventing oxygen and water molecules (extrinsic factors) from diffusing into the organic layers. In fact chemical reactions with oxygen and water molecules are the dominant degradation mechanism in air.…”

“…According to the number of EMLs, the device architectures can be simply classified into two kinds, namely multi-EML and single-EML WOLEDs [127][128][129][130][131][132]. Compared with multi-EML WOLEDs, the structures, fabrication procedures and device engineering of single-EML WOLEDs are relatively simple.…”

“…The introduction of n-type interlayers was demonstrated to be an effective strategy to develop high-performance hybrid WOLEDs [ 195 , 196 , 197 ]. For example, the influence of n-type interlayers was investigated by Liu et al [ 198 ].…”
