A B S T R A C TThe objective was to evaluate the effect of different spacings and mineral fertilizations on cactus pear growth and production in a randomized block design, with three replicates, in a 3 x 4 factorial scheme: three spacings, 1.00 x 0.50 m, 2.00 x 0.25 m and 3.00 x 1.00 x 0.25 m, and four fertilizations, 000-000-000, 000-150-000, 200-150-000 and 200-150-100 kg ha -1 of N, P 2 O 5 and K 2 O, respectively. Plant growth was evaluated between 90 and 390 days and production and growth were evaluated at 620 days after planting. There were significant interactions between spacing and fertilization for plant height, number of cladodes and cladode area index from 90 to 390 days and for production of fresh and dry matter at 620 days after planting. Spacing influenced cladode area index, while fertilization influenced plant height, number of cladodes and cladode area index at 620 days after planting. Plant height showed cubic effect for the days after planting. Number of cladodes and cladode area index were dependent on spacing, fertilization and plant age, and fitted to cubic models. The best results of growth and production of fresh and dry matter are associated with NPK and NP fertilizations and the spacing of 1.00 x 0.50 m.Produtividade e crescimento vegetativo da palma forrageira sob espaçamentos e adubações química R E S U M O Objetivou-se, neste trabalho, avaliar o efeito de espaçamentos e adubação mineral sobre crescimento e produção da palma forrageira, em um delineamento em blocos casualizados, com três repetições, esquema fatorial 3 x 4 correspondente a três espaçamentos, 1,00 x 0,50 m; 2,00 x 0,25 m e 3,00 x 1,00 x 0,25 m e quatro adubações, 000-000-000; 000-150-000; 200-150-000 e 200-150-100 kg ha -1 de N-P 2 O 5 -K 2 O. Avaliaram-se crescimento entre 90 e 390 dias após o plantio; produção e crescimento aos 620 dias. Ocorreram interações entre espaçamento e adubação para altura da planta, número de cladódios e índice de área de cladódios dos 90 aos 390 dias e para a produção de massa verde e matéria seca aos 620 dias após plantio. O espaçamento influenciou o índice de área de cladódio. Adubação influenciou: altura da planta, número de cladódios e índice de área de cladódio aos 620 dias após plantio. Altura da planta apresentou efeito cúbico para dias após plantio. O número de cladódios e o índice de área de cladódios foram dependentes do espaçamento, adubação e idade das plantas ajustando-se aos modelos cúbicos. O maior crescimento e a produção de massa verde e matéria seca são associados às adubações com NPK e NP no espaçamento 1,00 x 0,50 m. R E S U M OMuitas são as suposições quanto à baixa exigência de água da palma mas tais informações dependem de estudos de análise do desempenho da cultura a diferentes condições hídricas. Assim, objetivou-se verificar o efeito de diferentes lâminas de irrigação sobre a morfofisiologia e desempenho produtivo da palma forrageira cultivada em ambiente Semiárido. O experimento foi conduzido no segundo ano produtivo da cultura, em Serra Talhada, PE. As lâminas de água aplicadas totalizaram, ao final do ciclo, 976, 1048, 1096, 1152 e 1421 mm. Na ocasião da colheita foram feitas medidas biométricas e de biomassa das plantas e em seguida obtidos índices de resposta hídrica, morfológicos, morfofisiológicos e feita análise de produtividade. Verificou-se que as lâminas de irrigação não afetaram os índices de resposta hídrica (com exceção do peso fresco do cladódio de 1ª ordem), morfológicos e morfofisiológicos (p > 0,05), assim como o desempenho produtivo; todavia, os valores médios obtidos para a biomassa verde e seca (131,16 e 8,18 t ha -1 ) e do número de cladódios totais (14,13 unid.), se mostraram superiores aos relatos de cultivos em condições de sequeiro. Sugerem-se condições de disponibilidade hídrica de 1048 a 1096 mm ano -1 para a palma forrageira. Morphophysiological characteristic and yield of forage cactus under different irrigation depths A B S T R A C TThere are many assumptions about the low water requirement of forage cactus, but such information depends on performance analysis studies of the crop under different water conditions. Thus, this study aimed to verify the effect of different irrigation depths on morphophysiology and productive performance of forage cactus grown in semiarid environment. The experiment was conducted during the second productive year of the crop in Serra Talhada, PE. Water depths were applied and recorded at the end of the cycle as 976, 1048, 1096, 1152 and 1421 mm. At harvest, biometric and plant biomass measurements were made, and water response indices, morphological, morphophysiological and yield analysis were obtained. It was found that the irrigation depth did not affect the water response indices (except for 1 st cladode fresh weight), morphological and morphophysiological (p > 0.05), as well as the productive performance. However, the mean values obtained for the yield, such as green and dry biomass (131.16 and 8.18 t ha -1 ), and growth variables, such as average total cladodes number (14.13), showed to be superior to reported under rainfed conditions. Association of morphological and water factors with irrigated forage cactus yield

A B S T R A C TThis study aimed to understand the relationship of morphological characteristics and actual evapotranspiration of forage cactus clones with their productive capacity under different water regimes. The data used in this study were collected between the years 2012 and 2013, in Serra Talhada, State of Pernambuco. The clones Sertânia IPA -IPA, Miúda -MIU and Orelha de Elefante Mexicana -OEM were submitted to three irrigation depths (2.5, 5.0 and 7.5 mm) and three irrigation intervals (7, 14 and 28 days). Cladode and plant morphology, accumulated actual evapotranspiration and yield were obtained at the moment of harvest. Pearson's correlation matrix was elaborated and, in the sequence, multicollinearity, canonical and path analysis were applied. There was no correlation of yield with the soil water supply and actual evapotranspiration of the clones (p > 0.05). Forage cactus yield was more associated with peculiarities of the morphological characteristics of the clones than with the different soil water supplies or the crop actual evapotranspiration. However, regardless of the water regime and clone, the vigor of the basal cladodes was highly decisive for the expression of the forage cactus productive capacity.Associação de fatores morfológicos e hídricos com a produtividade da palma forrageira irrigada R E S U M O Objetivou-se, neste trabalho, compreender a relação de características morfológicas e da evapotranspiração real de clones de palma forrageira com sua capacidade produtiva em diferentes regimes hídricos. Os dados usados nesta pesquisa foram coletados entre os anos de 2012 e 2013, em Serra Talhada, PE. Os clones IPA Sertânia -IPA, Miúda -MIU e Orelha de Elefante Mexicana -OEM foram submetidos a três lâminas (2,5; 5,0; e 7,5 mm) e três intervalos de irrigação (7; 14 e 28 dias). Dados morfológicos dos cladódios e da planta, evapotranspiração real acumulada e desempenho produtivo foram obtidos na ocasião da colheita. A matriz de correlação de Pearson foi elaborada e, em seguida, foram aplicadas análises de multicolinearidade, canônica e de trilha. Não houve correlação da produtividade com o suprimento de água e evapotranspiração real dos clones (p > 0,05). A produtividade da palma esteve mais associada a peculiaridades das características morfológicas dos seus clones do que aos diferentes suprimentos de água no solo ou à evapotranspiração real da cultura. Mas, independente do regime hídrico e do clone, o vigor do cladódio basal foi bastante decisivo para a expressão da capacidade produtiva da palma forrageira irrigada.
