Reliability and Validity of the Assessment for Disaster Engagement with Partners Tool (ADEPT) for Local Health Departments

Abstract: Higher scores on all four dimensions of ADEPT for organizational respondents suggest that more activities were conducted for inter-organizational preparedness in those organizations than in organizations whose respondents had lower scores. This finding implies that organizations with higher ADEPT scores have more active relationships with CBOs/FBOs in the realm of preparedness, a key element for creating community resilience for emergencies and disaster preparedness.

“…Another important aspect of partnership dynamics is trust between CBOs and stakeholders (Akintobi et al., ; Bloom et al., ; Caldwell et al., ; Laborde et al., ; Taras et al., ; Tisnado et al., ). Trust in partnerships can be built through effective, regular and bidirectional communication through means like: regular meetings, conference calls, webinars and online dialogue (Akintobi et al., ; Bloom et al., ; Caldwell et al., ; Collignon et al., ; Darling et al., ; Glik et al., ; Honeycutt et al., ; Houston et al., ; Johnson et al., ; Napoles et al., ; Singer et al., ; Tisnado et al., ). Trust can also be developed through transparency of research processes and procedures, and accountability between members of the partnership (Akintobi et al., ; Caldwell et al., ; Laborde et al., ; Singer et al., ).…”
