The WHO has upgraded the status of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) from epidemic to global pandemic. The psychometric properties aspects of COVID-19 patients without comorbidities in the short term after discharge have not been reported. In this study, the Short Form 36 (SF-36) was used to evaluate the psychometric properties and to find relevant risk factors. Methods: The study was conducted in seven hospitals from January 2020 to April 2020. The SF-36 questionnaire was administered one month after discharge. Univariate analysis and multivariate regression model were used to analyze the risk factors of psychometric properties impairment. Results: In univariate analysis of independent risk factors, according to the comparison of whether the duration of positive nucleic acid was greater than 20 days, the positive nucleic acid duration was independently related to the decreased role-emotional value [100, IQR (66-100) vs 100, IQR (0, 100); p = 0.0156]. In addition, multivariable linear regression model showed that male sex and positive nucleic acid duration were related to decreased role-emotional value (p = 0.03< 0.05; p = 0.01< 0.05, respectively). Mental health was associated with age (p= 0.0435). Subsequently, we divided into three subgroups: less than seven days, 7 to 14 days and more than 14 days according to the positive nucleic acid duration. The results revealed that there were significant differences in the vitality value and mental health value of patients aged 46 to 69 in the subgroup where the positive nucleic acid duration longer than 14 days (p= 0.0472; p= 0.0311< 0.05, respectively). Similarly, there are also significant differences in role-emotional value in different genders (p= 0.0316). Conclusion: The study described the psychometric properties of COVID-19 patients without comorbidities shortly after discharge. Risk factors for psychometric properties damage included age, male sex, and nucleic acid duration.

ObjectivesWomen with breast cancer have different needs that are various in perceived importance and satisfaction. This study aimed to examine the relationship among perceived needs satisfaction, perceived needs importance with health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in women with breast cancer and determine the intermediary role of perceived needs importance in the relationship between perceived needs satisfaction and HRQoL.DesignCross-sectional design.SettingTwo tertiary level hospitals in Shaanxi Province, China.ParticipantsWomen newly diagnosed with breast cancer were recruited.Outcome measuresThe Needs Self-Rating Questionnaire for Breast Cancer and the Medical Outcomes Study 36-item Short-Form Health Survey V. 2.0 were used for data collection regarding perceived needs satisfaction, perceived needs importance and HRQoL.ResultsA total of 359 valid questionnaires were collected. The perceived needs importance was negatively associated with physical component summary (PCS) (b=−0.067, p=0.024) and mental component summary (MCS) (b=−0.185, p<0.001). On the contrary, perceived needs satisfaction was positively associated with PCS (c′=0.005, p=0.843), although not statistically significant. Perceived needs satisfaction was positively associated with MCS (c′=0.194, p<0.001) and perceived needs importance (a=0.458, p<0.001). Furthermore, the perceived needs importance suppressed the relationship between perceived needs satisfaction and PCS (a*b=−0.031; 95% CI −0.058 to –0.004) and the relationship between perceived needs satisfaction and MCS (a*b=−0.085; 95% CI −0.138 to –0.043).ConclusionFor women with breast cancer, higher perceived needs satisfaction is associated with higher HRQoL. However, higher perceived needs importance would be conversely associated with lower HRQoL by suppressing the positive association of perceived needs satisfaction with HRQoL. Healthcare providers should pay more attention to those who have high perceived needs importance but low perceived needs satisfaction and fulfil the important needs.

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly affected individuals’ physical and mental health, including that of immigrant women. This study aimed to evaluate the health-related quality of life (HRQoL), identify the demographic factors and awareness of the COVID-19 pandemic contributing to physical and mental health, and examine the risk factors associated with poor physical and mental health of Chinese women in Japan following the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. Using an electronic questionnaire survey, we collected data including items on HRQoL, awareness of the COVID-19 pandemic, and demographic factors. One hundred and ninety-three participants were analyzed. Approximately 98.9% of them thought that COVID-19 affected their daily lives, and 97.4% had COVID-19 concerns. Married status (OR = 2.88, 95%CI [1.07, 7.72], p = 0.036), high concerns (OR = 3.99, 95%CI [1.46, 10.94], p = 0.007), and no concerns (OR = 8.75, 95%CI [1.17, 65.52], p = 0.035) about the COVID-19 pandemic were significantly associated with poor physical health. Unmarried status (OR = 2.83, 95%CI [1.20, 6.70], p = 0.018) and high COVID-19 concerns (OR = 2.17, 95%CI [1.04, 4.56], p = 0.040) were significantly associated with poor mental health. It is necessary to provide effective social support for Chinese women in Japan to improve their well-being, especially in terms of mental health.
