Reporting guidelines for qualitative research: a values-based approach

This qualitative study explores the long-term impact of the BELL trial’s weekly group kettlebell training on older adults’ engagement, community building, and intrinsic motivation. Three years post-trial, participants from the ‘Wednesday Friends’ group were interviewed to understand how social bonds, shared leadership, adaptability, and health benefits contributed to their sustained participation. Applying the COM-B model and the four C’s model of thematic analysis, findings reveal that social support, resilience, and self-efficacy were central to continued engagement, underscoring key motivators for older adults’ adherence to group-based exercise. These insights offer healthcare providers data-driven strategies to foster long-term engagement in community exercise programs for older adults.

This study examines the role of technical skills in driving the growth and sustainability of Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) in Masvingo Province, Zimbabwe. Technical skills are recognized as cru-cial for enhancing business performance, fostering competitive ad-vantage, and supporting long-term development. Using a quantitative approach, the research surveyed **233 participants** across diverse sectors within the SMME landscape in the region. The findings reveal a polarized perspective: 50.21% of participants agree that technical skills significantly contribute to business growth, while 49.79% disagree, suggesting varied experiences and perceptions among stakeholders. This study underscores the importance of targeted skill development as a strategic priority to bolster the resilience and success of SMMEs. It provides actionable recommendations for policymakers, business owners, and educators to address this critical gap by investing in tech-nical skills training, aligning educational programs with market de-mands, and fostering a supportive ecosystem for enterprise develop-ment. By prioritizing technical skills, stakeholders can enhance the ca-pacity of SMMEs to navigate challenges, seize growth opportunities, and contribute to the broader economic development of Zimbabwe.
