Research on Noise Reduction Approach of Raman-Based Distributed Temperature Sensor Based on Nonlinear Filter

Abstract: The accuracy of temperature measurement is often reduced due to random noise in Raman-based distributed temperature sensor (RDTS). A noise reduction method based on a nonlinear filter is thus proposed in this paper. Compared with the temperature demodulation results of raw signals, the proposed method in this paper can reduce the average maximum deviation of temperature measurement results from 4.1˚C to 1.2˚C at 40.0˚C, 50.0˚C and 60.0˚C. And the proposed method in this paper can improve the accuracy of temper… Show more

“…(2) A large number of point sensors can be replaced by an optical fiber, which can accurately measure the temperature information at any point along the direction of propagation; moreover, the sensing fiber exhibits high reliability and high feasibility for the distributed measurement and prediction of temperature at a low cost of production 140 . (3) The optical fiber is soft, light in weight, and easy to install 141 . As a transformative optical technology, the Raman distributed optical fiber sensor has been widely employed in a wide range of application domains owing to its unique characteristics 142 164 .…”
