Research on Optimization of Phase Design for an Isolated Intersection

Abstract: Based on the phase conflict matrix and safety principle, a phase design optimization model is proposed to minimize the sum of flow-capacity ratios concerning critical phases. Both dynamic programming method and improved elite multi-population genetic algorithm are used to automatically generate the optimal phase design scheme.
